::About the 10 Years of Ad Noiseam ::

The Berlin based Ad Noiseam label was born in early 2001 as a creative output for the Recycle Your Ears web magazine, which has been active between 1998 and 2003. Focusing mostly on electronic music, Ad Noiseam is however not restricted to any genres. From the club to the bedroom, from the breakcore of Enduser to the jazz of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, from the raging beats of Bong-Ra to the dubstep of Matta, Ad Noiseam’s aim is to offer to the biggest possible audience a wide array of genres in electronic music. It should also be added that Ad Noiseam artist come from all over the world, with musicians on this label living in such places as Sweden, Ukraine, the USA, the UK or Germany.

In order to reach this goal, Ad Noiseam is a clearly audience oriented label. Concentrating a lot more on making its releases available all over the world, this label is putting its strength on building a bridge between the artists and their audience, with the help of many live shows, diverse distribution channels and a very intensive promotion. While some other label might work on creating a corporate image, Ad Noiseam’s face to the world is a more varied one, and one which constantly try to present in the best possible way the music at the heart of the label.

Active on its own since 2001, and without the support of any major distributor or media, Ad Noiseam has been growing steadily, becoming a full range label, online mail order and distributor. Ad Noiseam has worked with recognized artists such as Enduser, Bong-Ra, Drumcorps or Panacea, but is also giving a lot of care in bringing exposure to young acts, such as Matta, Niveau Zero, Igorrr or Mothboy. The Ad Noiseam CD and vinyl release are widely reviewed in publications such as The Wire (UK), Grooves (USA), De:bug (Germany), Trax (France), Rock A Rolla (UK), Go Magazine (Spain) as well as countless online publications.

Ad Noiseam acts are performing live all year round, and have taken part in numerous festivals, including the Transmediale, the Dretroit Electronic Music Festival in Chicago, Sweden’s Norbergfestival, Dour, Glade, Bangface, Fusion in Germany or Le Printemps de Bourge in France. Having reached the (for an underground label venerable) age of 10 years in 2011, Ad Noiseam is celebrating with label-oriented festivals in several countries accross the world. Presenting the wide musical array of the label in high profile locations in a variety of countries, these parties should be both a coming- together for the fans and a way for others to discover the many sides of Ad Noiseam. These parties will happen in the Spring and the Autumn of 2011, the confirmed dates so far being:

-May 6th in Berlin (DE) at Berghain

-May 14th in Luzern (CH) at Südpol

-May 28th in Utrecht (NL) at Tivoli de Helling

-June 1st in Paris (FR) at Batofar

-July 9th in Beirut (LB)

::About Broken Note::

The project of two young and particularly angry Britons (one of which later went to act as 16 Bit), Broken Note shattered doors, ears and subwoofers in 2008 with a salvo of records on Ad Noiseam, Peace Off and Ruff. Their mixture of high definition sound, punk attitude, sheer energy and (let’s face it), freshness propelled this duo in no time to the forefront of both the dubstep and the hard drum’n’bass scene.

A couple of years later, Broken Note has kept on releasing on Ad Noiseam, but has also collaborated with high names of the current electronic music world, such as Amon Tobin, Cooh or Machine Code. Very prolific in the studio, Broken Note have also been relentlessly touring, playing myriads of shows in the UK, continental Europe and both Americas, and participating to many festivals, such as Glastonbury, Bangface or Maschinenfest. Judging from the impressive feedback and recognition gathered in only a couple of years by Broken Note, it has become very clear that this act is one to be counted on, and one of the major players of tomorrow (if not today) for anybody into hard, punk-ridden electronic music.

::About Igorrr::

Brace yourself, it’s a wild ride that the one on which you embark with Igorrr. The solo project of the young but still very experienced frenchman Gautier Serre has quickly shot to the pantheon of all things hard and electronic, and intends on staying there. A sound engineer by trade, Serre is the perfect example of a careful soundsmith working with his ears wide open and his tongue firmly planted in his cheeks. Citing 17th century classical music and death metal as his main influences, he insolently mixed the fastest of breakcore with the most elegant of baroque compositions, grindcore screams and absurd, everyday life samples. The best part? It all fits perfectly together, for a particularly exhilirating result. Crowds after crowds can not be wrong: since the release of “Nostril” on Ad Noiseam in 2010, Igorrr has become a very sought-after act, playing every week all across Europe.

::About The Teknoist::

Known for his over-the-top live performances, his audio excesses and his relentless touring, Manchester’s Miike Hayward has been shattering his audience’s eardrums since the early of 2000’s. Not a man to waste any minute, he released his very first record on none other than Deatchant, then moving on to other prestigious labels as Planet Mu, Peace Off or Cock Rock Disco, before joining forces with Ad Noiseam in 2008 with both a split 12” with Eustachian (the “Pillaged and Plundered” EP) and his first full length album, “…Like A Hurricane Made Of Zombies”.

Over the years, The Teknoist has become one of the leading names of the breakcore scene, with residences in several clubs in the UK and the Netherlands, tours all over the world and collaborations with many high profile producers (such as King Cannibal, Drumcorps or Mu-Ziq), several of which were presented as part of his second full length album, “Trainwreck Magnetism”, released on Ad Noiseam in 2011. An essential figure of the British hardcore scene, Miike Hayward is also a regular contributor to Core Magazine, as well as an event promoter, throwing parties in Manchester and having made name for himself by helping newcomers get shows and records out.

::About Nicolas Chevreux::

The founder of the Ad Noiseam label, Nicolas Chevreux has been active promoting music since the mid 90’s, when he ran a weekly radio show on his home-town of Grenoble, France before relocating to Berlin and creating the Recycle Your Ears web-zine, which pioneered the genre of music blogs before the turn of the century.

Spawning from a one-off experiment, Ad Noiseam became a full fledged label in 2001, and has ever since became one of the longest running and most productive house for challenging, left-of-center electronic music worldwide. Bringing such acts as Bong-Ra, Enduser, Broken Note or Larvae to the front stage, Ad Noiseam strives to produce and promote a wide array of quality-controlled electronic music.

In parallel to his activities as a label manager, Nicolas Chevreux has been DJ-ing regularly since the mid-90’s, often touring with bands from Ad Noiseam and performing at festival worldwide DJ sets, interviews and profiles about him and Ad Noiseam have appeared on RFI, Arte, TV Berlin, ResonanceFM, BBC1, Electronic Explorations and countless magazines.

Marta Moreno Muñoz (Spain, 1978) is a performance and video artist with a background in experimental theater and other time-based arts. She is at present in a transitional stage, shifting towards the conceptualization of larger-scale projects exploring the complex interchange between performance art and cinematic language.

She has lived and produced works in Spain, UK, Turkey, India, The Netherlands and Indonesia as well as screened and exhibited as far and wide as China, Thailand, Australia, Portugal, Austria, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Cuba, Mexico, Sweden, Finland and Syria.

::Wormholes::

Wormholes is an ongoing audio-visual project by Mazen Kerbaj and Sharif Sehnaoui, two Lebanese free improvising musicians who have been working and playing together since the late 1990’s. In 2008, Kerbaj devised an ingenious set-up which allows him to draw in a live setting, using a luminous glass panel coated with acetate, an overhead projector, and a reversed camera. While he draws miscellaneous shapes and forms, sometimes precise, oftentimes blurred, and augments them with plastic add-ons and random effects (such as blowing on the panel with a pipe), Sehnaoui operates his guitar percussively, with lines that are heavy and forceful in places, and sparse and muted in others. Although the two men start the piece in unison, not much correspondence occurs at later stages of the performance, between the music and the drawing. Points of interference are accidental, and much is left to the audience’s imagination.

::About NIVEAU ZERO::

Having taken his first steps in music as the bass player for various hardcore outfits, Frédéric Garcia AKA Niveau Zero has now become one of the frontrunners of France’s heavy electronic scene. With tastes and influences ranging from dubstep to breakcore or hip-hop to metal, he’s a relentless actor of this country’s underground scene.

Following his winning of the “best electronic newcomer” award at the Printemps De Bourges festival in 2008, Niveau Zero had his first releases on the Paris-based label Destpub (also the first label to discover the now widely acclaimed 16bit). In 2010 he releases his first full length album, “In_sect” on ADNOISEAM, a boundary-free wild ride through the many forms of modern bass music. Featuring collaborations with such artists as BenSharpa, Broken Note, Hecq and The Unik.

Beside having his own FM radio show, Niveau Zero is also the founder of Paris’s famous hard bass music parties, “F*** You I’m Furious”& “Still furious”, and is known for being one of the most sought-out French dubstep live act.

::About X&trick::

Belgian X&trick started out as a DJ and party promoter in 1998. He was one of the first DJ’s to introduce new music styles like breakcore, industrial, braindance, hardcore and drill n bass into the Belgian underground scene. X&trick soon became known as one of Belgians most wanted DJ’s.
It didn’t take long until his first international gigs became a fact… Around that time he was also getting more into his own productions and tunes.

By 2003, X&trick moved to the city of Gent where he created ‘Bug Klinik’, still organising parties but this time with a new division called ‘Bug Klinik Records’. This label created a place where he could bring together many of the artists and friends which he met during the past few years.

Between 2005 and 2010, X&trick has been extensively touring with his live acts, playing on most of Europe’s respected nights and festivals, (f.e. Dour Festival (B) Glade (UK) and being the first Belgian act on the London’s legendary Neo-rave: Bang Face) and memorable tours in the United States and Japan…

Recently X&trick has also been working on his new projects Knex, and became a member of the dubstep format ‘Red Eyes’. After the first performances and releases of both projects, a promising future seems to await both new musical outputs.

X&trick’s style is described by himself as ‘Neorave’: countless kinds of (contemporary) music like DrumNBass, Electronica, Hardcore, Rave, Jungle iget blended into a fresh cocktail of mad beats, sharp bass and catchy melodies. His liveset is not the usual ‘laptop’ live, combining laptop, midicontrollers, fx and microphone.. and a portion of humor of course.

‘I don’t like to take myself too seriously’ he says, ‘but when i’m on a stage there’s only one mission: connect with the audience and take them onto a musical journey, and i’m pretty damn serious about that!’

::About ENDUSER::

Lynn Standafer, better known as Enduser, undoubtedly counts as the better known, most active and highest praised breakcore producers. Shooting his way through the 2000’s with salvoes of EPs and albums as well as constantly touring all over the world, Enduser has grown from being a driving force of this sound to one of its best embodiment and most recognized figure.
Synonymous for a music which marries carefully laid melodies with unrestrained aggression, Enduser has received praises from all sorts of horizons for the way he manages to entice a sense of beauty in the midst of broken and pummelling beats. If hard electronic music can ever be recognized as having a soul, it is throughout Enduser’s output that this gets best demonstrated. Enduser has played too many high-profile shows and festivals to list, and has amassed an impressive discography, which features several highly successful records and tracks. His music has been recognized as heavily influential in many genres, ranging from drum’n’bass to metal. Enduser has also collaborated with artists ranging from drum’n’bass heavyweights Dylan or DJ Hidden as with rock and metal legends Jarboe (of the Swans), Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu) or Bill Laswell.

  • Court-Circuit

Court-Circuit is an experimental project of Osman Arabi and Heathen.
Act I at Dany’s pub, Hamra, on the 15th of December 2009, 9:30pm.
About Court-Circuit: The musical partnership of Hadi Saleh (a.k.a. Heathen) and Osman Arabi has a subterranean origin – the pair began jamming in the basement of a store. Since December 2009, the duo has gone by the name of Court-Circuit, producing experimental sounds with an appropriately dark soundscape. Using snatches of speech, television static, recorded sounds, broken radios, electronics, guitars and didgeridoos, Court-Circuit conjure an ambient cacophony, a distinctive brand of postmodern noir.

  • C-drik Fermont VS Osman Arabi

“A night of experimental sounds from Belgium encountering experimental sounds of Lebanon.”

C-drík Fermont is a multifaced artist, academically trained musician. He is a former student of electroacoustic composer Annette Vande Gorne (Conservatory of Mons, Belgium) C-drík is also a sound designer and composer, mostly into various electronic and experimental genres such as electro-acoustic, noise, breakcore, industrial, electro, digital punk and free jazz.
Connected to visual arts, Cdrík composes soundtracks for theater, exhibitions, sound installations, fashion shows and short movies.
In 2006 he composed a musical score for Sergei Eisenstein’s mute film The strike in Riga, Latvia. The same year he won a prize for the best soundtrack at the festival of experimental short film “Côté court” in Montreuil (France). The movie was made by Gisèle Pape and edited on dvd by Ad Noiseam. Between 2004 until 2007 he performed in many Asian, Middle-Eastern and African countries to meet local artists, collect local experimental music to produce a non-western compilation and start to write a book about the non-western artists and scenes. Cedrik also runs the mastering studio/record labels Syrphe (above all dedicated to electronic and experimental from Africa and Asia) and Textolux.Osman Arabi is a Lebanese musician, composer and sound designer well known as the driving force behind the raw, acid and harsh electronics onslaught outfit 20.SV as well as working with the secret nihilist Dutch collective STALAGGH.

The comprehensively cerebral impact of Osman Arabi is one that has been experienced by far through many representative projects such as 20.SV, Seeker, Kafan, Veinen, Shamanic Death Trance, The Ritual Inclusion of Code among others; dealing with a broad range of genres such as dark ambient, industrial, tribal, psychedelic, electro-acoustic, power electronics and noise. His music reveals deep ritualistic and enigmatic atmospheres in which everything folds as a hypnotizing journey beyond the earthly realms establishing him as one of the most unique figures in the international noise and industrial scene.
Osman keeps treading new paths creating textures and sonic narratives. His sounds open new channels of perception via subtle and subliminal passages representing, in a deep concept, musical explorations shrouded in ethnic ritual atmospheres and post apocalyptic scenarios.
